Welcome to this blog

Welcome to this blog
This is my second attempt at starting this. My old account seemed to have been removed in upgrading of computers. The flowery background will change eventually so consider this currently under construction. Just experimenting with some layout features.
If you are an Intermediate Teacher in Canterbury NZ please let me know what would be of help.
We will be meeting at Rangi Ruru Girls' School  at 7pm Wednesday 25th February with the main CATA group.
Kate McIntyre from the Whole House Reuse Project will be there if you wish to talk to her and see if you can be involved. I am hoping to run a workshop, possibly Saturday afternoon on the 28th for students involved in this.

Please let me know if you have anything you would like to add to the agenda.

My thoughts:
representation by NZEI
recognition of experience in the Intermediate Sector
I think I miss opportunities to take part in projects, information can be hit or miss.
Place to display Intermediate work. No more Ballantynes.
Ridiculous, technology/not technology NZEI/PPTA

Many thanks to Sue and Sarah for coming to the meeting tonight. Good to make contact. Lots of support for 'real' art teaching in the years before high school. Now we have 'announced' ourselves to the group we can arrange our own get togethers for PD but also for general support and, maybe, a nice glass of wine.
I am running a workshop at Heaton this Saturday 28th February for Whole House Reuse work. Please let me know if you would like to join us. 10:30am-3pm The door will be locked for security so please go round and knock on the window or text 0297744474.

Is anyone interested in the not too near future of an Intermediate Art Exhibition?

Art Teachers Exhibition
There will an exhibition at South Library ( Beckenham) for Art Teachers work.
19th May-8th June
Work needs to be able to fit in an A1 frame, if a mount is required please provide your own.
There is some space for 3 D work on the shelf behind the windows of the Librarians' office. I have exhibited student work there and it works quite well. Best to have a look yourself and see if it is suitable.
If you have not already put your name down to exhibit please let me know so that I can organise enough frames.

Canterbury Potters Notice
Just reminding you of our annual auction which will take place next Wednesday 4 March starting at 7 pm.  We hope that by having it as an event separate from our AGM in June, we can entice more people along!
We have loads of pottery-related goodies:  magazines, books, plaster moulds, glazing equipment, an extruder, portable table, projection screen, bats, three cowley wheels, tools, and a raku drum kiln.  Rumour has it that we will also have some interesting pots as well.

Of course we are still seeking your your donations, (up to 6.30pm on the day). We are looking for anything pottery-related, as well as produce, preserves, plants etc.
Please remember that this is our main fundraiser for the year, so let's make it a good one!  As usual, our rock-star auctioneer, Alex Prentice will be officiating.
